SWIRC services help families live in a healthy and positive environment. |
The Southwest Indian Relief Council (SWIRC) Program delivers a broad range of services to impoverished and isolated Native American communities on Southwest reservations, placing special emphasis on helping Native American infants and children grow up in a healthy and positive environment.
We have developed a unique partnership approach in helping to ease the hardship these communities experience.
ALL SWIRC services involve Native Americans from the reservation communities we serve. These Program Partners volunteer their time and efforts to help fulfill our mission: ’
to help Native American people improve the quality of their lives by providing opportunities for them to bring about positive change in their communities.’
- Youth: Promoting positive activities for Native American young people.
- Elders: Providing support to Native American communities so they may better care for their Elders.
- Food: We distribute tons of fresh and frozen produce to selected communities.
- Winter Fuel: A cord of wood goes out to each Elder in select communities. Coal is distributed to Elders in select communities who prefer it to wood.
- Thanksgiving: Holiday food is provided to community partners hosting community-wide Thanksgiving meals.
- Christmas: Thousands of stockings and holiday gifts are provided to program partners for kids, teens and youth.
