Mni the Porch Pup
Andrea of OPP was called about an abandoned pup.
Mni’s journey started in the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation with the predictable and decisive assistance of Partnership With Native American’s (PWNA) Reservation Animal Rescue (RAR) Program Partner, Oglala Pet Project (OPP).
Mni (water in Lakota), is a black pittie/lab pup mix, who was found under the porch of a home near the Bear Creek area of the reservation. Andrea, of OPP, was called about an abandoned pup. “She was just left [with] a girl I know in Bear Creek at least they made water for her,” Andrea told us. The homeowner got home, and the pup emerged from the porch. Mni wasn’t given her name until she was being transported across the state by RAR staff.
Andrea provided some of the preventative medications to Mni before spending the night at an area veterinarian and catching her morning ride with RAR staff. Mni was equipped with Nexgard for flea and tick and a dewormer. Upon arrival at the second rescue, Mni was spayed and received the remainder of her vaccinations.

Fast forward to September, the rescue’s adoption page listed “Mini” as “very sweet and calm most of the time but she also loves to play! She loves her small foster siblings”, but is fearful of a bigger dog she met and ignores cats most of the time. She sleeps all night long in her playpen, and she does well on leash walks and loves to cuddle.
Her adoption was just one month from the time that Mni was left under the porch with a bowl of “mni.” That woman knew another woman Andrea of OPP and with several text messages between OPP and RAR, Mni’s journey to a new home began.
